ADRIAN WOOTTON TALKS FILM FEMMES

Presented by MIFF 37ºSouth Market & Accelerator Lab, Adrian Wootton returns exclusively to Melbourne for another series of his acclaimed Illustrated Film Talksthis year focusing on the Hollywood Golden Age and four legendary actresses, who appeared in some of the greatest films in celluloid history.

Presented by MIFF 37ºSouth Market & Accelerator Lab, celebrated LA-based developer, writer and lecturer Wendall Thomas, who has written and developed projects for companies including Disney, Warner Brothers, Paramount, Universal, Showtime, PBS, A&E and NBC, returns exclusively to Melbourne for more of her popular series unlocking the secrets of film writing with a series of four stand-alone all-day seminars.

Fresh from working on the MIFF Premiere Fund-supported 2017 MIFF Opening Night world premiere film Jungle, production designer Matt Putland (Kriv Stenders’ Australia Day, Ivan Sen’s Mystery Road, and The Spierig Brothers’ Undead, Predestination and upcoming Winchester) explores how production designers collaborate with directors to bring the world of the film to life.

The craft of cinematography is explored by Director of Photography Anna Howard ACS, whose credits include Eron Sheean’s Errors of the Human Body, Tony Ayres’ Saved, Gillian Armstrong’s Women He’s Undressed) and MIFF Premiere Fund-supported Rabbit which world premieres at MIFF 2017.

The intricacies of film score composing are explored with award-winning composer Caitlin Yeo, whose diverse credits include the award-winning film The Rocket, Gayby Baby, David Stratton: A Cinematic Life, and MIFF Premiere Fund-supported Butterfly Tree which world premieres at MIFF 2017.

EDITING: SEAN LAHIFF

Presented by MIFF Accelerator Lab in association with the Australian Screen Editors, the art and secrets of film editing are explored in this session with editor Sean Lahiff who edited Greg McLean’s MIFF Premiere Fund-supported Jungle, which world premieres at MIFF 2017’s Opening Night. Lahiff’s other editing credits include Paul Currie’s 2:22 and Craig Lahiff’s MIFF Premiere Fund-supported Swerve.
