PRODUCERS (FEATURE FILM - DRAMA AND DOCUMENTARY)

There are three different application modules – [A] or [B] or [C] below:

[A] The present call for submissions seeks to select Australia/NZ producers with at least one developed script, ready to pitch to financiers, to participate in MIFF 37ºSouth: Bridging the Gap’s program of scheduled meetings and events with local and international film financing guests.

  • If you are an Australian/NZ producer with such a script and wish to apply through this mechanism, please read the attached BtG LATE Application and complete it and email it back by the end of business on 12 April 2017 (early-bird) OR 04 May 2017 (second-look) OR 10 June 2017 (late).

[B] The present call for submissions is also seeking producers with a completed film that is seeking world sales and/or local distribution to participate in MIFF 37ºSouth: Breakthru Screenings, which screens the selected films for MIFF 37ºSouth Market’slocal and international sales agents/distributors and schedules meetings between the film’s producer and those buyers.

  • If you are an Australian/NZ producer with such a film and wish to apply through this mechanism, please read the attached BtS LATE Application and complete it and submit it and your DVDs by end of business on 12 April 2017 (early-bird) OR 04 May 2017 (second-look) OR 10 June 2017 (late).

[C] The present call for submissions is also accepting applications from producers wishing to meet with publishers at 37ºSouth’s Books at MIFF and/or with screenwriters/directors at MIFF 37ºSouth: PostScript&Direct.

  • If you are an Australian/NZ producer who does not have ‘market-ready’ (ie, fully developed and ready to show to the international marketplace) feature film project/slate ready to pitch at MIFF 37ºSouth: Bridging the Gap and instead wish to source new material by meeting with publishers at 37ºSouth’s Books at MIFF and/or with screenwriters/directors at MIFF 37ºSouth: PostScript&Direct, then you can apply through this mechanism. Please read the attached BaM_PS&D Application and complete it and submit it by end of business on 10 June 2017

PREMIERE FUND PRODUCERS

If you are a producer who has received co-financing through the MIFF Premiere Fund for a film premiering at MIFF 2017, you will be contacted shortly by the MIFF 37ºSouth Market team to discuss your preferential selection to MIFF 37ºSouth Market. Such preferential selection may occur in one of two ways:

  • Your Premiere Fund co-financed film requires world sales and/or local distribution, in which case you will receive preferential consideration for a MIFF 37ºSouth: Breakthru Screenings slot and the accompanying registration.
  • You have another market-ready script, in which case your project will receive preferential consideration for a MIFF 37ºSouth: Bridging the Gap producer slot.

Note: Only one producer per Premiere Fund project will receive the preferential selection. If there is more than one producer, your team will need to nominate which producer is to receive the preferential selection. The extra producers may apply through one of the [A], [B] or [C] methods above.

BOOK PUBLISHERS/LITERARY AGENTS (For 37ºSouth’s Books at MIFF)

The present call for submissions will select Australian and NZ publishers/literary agents (film rights holders) of local books that have cinematic potential, to be the next big book-to-screen adaptation to participate in this year's 37ºSouth’s Books at MIFF (BaM) program of scheduled meetings and events with Australian/NZ producers and local and international film financing guests.

  • If you are an Australian/NZ publisher/literary agent and wish to apply to participate in the 2017 edition of BaM, please read the attached Publisher_Agent Submission Form and complete it and email it back by 22 May 2017.

SCREENWRITERS/DIRECTORS (for 37 ºSouth: PostScript&Direct)

If you are a screenwriter, director or writer/director wanting to meet with producers to expand your contacts and interest producers in your work and skills, PostScript&Direct (PS&D) enables screenwriters, directors and writer/directors to meet with a selection of the Australia/NZ producers registered at MIFF 37ºSouth Market.

Some of the State Screen Agencies have partnerships with MIFF 37ºSouth Market to secure places for screenwriters, directors and writer/directors at PostScript&Direct (PS&D). You should check with your state screen agency first and if your state is a PS&D partner then you should apply to attend via your state screen agency. If your state does not have a PS&D partnership, then you should read the attached PS&D Writer_Director Application and complete it and email it back by 10 June 2017.
