Background

If you are a producer who does not have pitch-ready scripts ready to show to financiers but instead you are seeking new content to develop, you can apply to attend Books at MIFF (BaM) and/or Nexus and/or PostScript & Direct (PS&D).

Books at MIFF (BaM) promotes links between publishers, screen financiers and producers to foster book-to-screen adaptations and comprises: a case-study panel discussion on a recent adaptation and public pitching by publishers of up to 10 books they want to see made into films or TV shows; and scheduled one-to-one meetings for publishers with film/TV producers & financiers and a networking event.

Nexus fosters links and business between screen adaptation IP rights holders of varying formats (including podcasts, musicals, games, stage-plays, press articles, online content) and the film/TV industry to foster screen adaptations of these formats. The module includes curated one-to-one meetings and a networking event.

PostScript & Direct (PS&D) enables selected screenwriters, directors and creatives to meet with 37ºSouth: Bridging the Gap’s registered producers with curated one-to-one meetings and a networking event.

Books at MIFF – Submission/Registration Conditions and Benefits (Thursday)

This part of the form below is for Australia/NZ producers who do not have pitch-ready screen project slates ready to pitch at Bridging the Gap and instead wish to source new material to develop from publishers at 37ºSouth: Books at MIFF (BaM).

Successful applicants will receive a Thursday Books at MIFF pass, which includes:

Attendance at books-to-screen case study seminar
Attendance at public pitching of books ripe for screen adaptation
Invite to mixer lunch networking function
Entry to Thursday’s MIFF 37°South Market Official Opening Drinks

And, subject to the requests of publishers:

Personal diary of meetings with publishers (meetings allocated by 37ºSouth staff primarily on basis of publisher preferences so securing meetings or the number of meetings cannot be guaranteed).

Nexus – Submission/Registration Conditions and Benefits (Friday)

Successful applicants will receive a Friday Nexus pass, which includes:

Personal diary of meetings with IP rights holders (meetings allocated by 37ºSouth staff primarily on basis of IP holders preferences so securing meetings or the number of meetings cannot be guaranteed)
Networking event (light lunch)

PostScript & Direct (PS&D) – Submission/Registration Conditions and Benefits (Saturday/Sunday)

This part of the form is for Australia/NZ producers who do not have pitch-ready screen project slates ready to pitch at Bridging the Gap and instead wish to source new contacts and material to develop by meeting with selected writers/directors/creatives at 37ºSouth: PostScript & Direct (PS&D).

Successful applicants will receive a Saturday/Sunday PS&D pass, which includes:

Invite to mixer lunch networking functions on Saturday & Sunday
Access to Saturday & Sunday State of Play panel sessions
Personal diary of meetings with selected writers/directors/creatives
Invite to 37ºSouth Market Sunday evening Closing Drinks

General Notes

Costs of transport to, and accommodation in, Melbourne to be covered by the producer.
Only one producer per project will receive a photo lanyard entitling them to entry to meetings, events and functions. If extra members of your creative team or producers associated with you wish to also attend 37ºSouth, they may submit a separate application. If both applicants are selected you may elect to take meetings together. Please indicate on your application if you wish to link with another applicant for meetings should you both be selected.
All registered 37°South participants will receive a personal diary of meetings and events on or around 1 August 2025.
You agree that 37ºSouth Market may use any photos taken of you during the events.
By submitting an application, you are agreeing to receive program and marketing updates from MIFF Industry (including MIFF 37ºSouth Market, Accelerator Lab and Premiere Fund).
