A collaboration of 37ºSouth: Bridging the Gap, which is focused on producers with ‘market-ready’ projects, and Accelerator Lab, which is MIFF’s skills and craft development workshops for new Australia/NZ short film directing talent, this initiative ensures the short films of Australia’s hottest directing talent of tomorrow are viewed by key financiers and producers. This initiative also includes partnerships with key film agencies to ensure selection of new directors and producers into MIFF industry programs.
Moderated by leading professionals, 37ºSouth Market’s financing guests and producers discuss the pressing screen funding issues of the day.
As well as operating MIFF 37°South Market, Australia’s only screen co-financing market at a film festival, MIFF’s industry unit also runs Accelerator Lab, Australia’s only screen director development program at a film festival, which prepares the hottest short filmmaking talent for a career in feature filmmaking, and the MIFF Premiere Fund, which co-finances new local films with ‘Stories That Need Telling‘ which will premiere at MIFF.
In addition to the opportunities it offers to screen industry professionals via its selective events, 37°South Market & Accelerator Lab often stage exclusive-to-Melbourne ticketed events open to the general public and industry practitioners alike. Full details will be available in due course on the ticketed events page of this website.
